FLORA

In the Reserve there is a wide range of vegetable species that are typical both of fresh and brackish or salty water. Some examples of the river floodplain vegetation are  Populus trees, the Black Alder and the White Willow. Moreover, the Reserve hosts one of the last strips of those floodplain woods that originally grew in the Southern area of the Veneto- padano plain.
Here there are species such as the Peduncolate Oak, the Common Hornbeam and the  Ashtree (the Fraxinus Oxyphyllus). It is really interesting to observe the typical low vegetation of salt marshes and of mud flats as it is particularly suited to the high salinity. Species such as Glasswort and Aster Tripolium are examples of this kind of vegetation.
